Designer's Note
“Located at the entrance of The MixC in Hangzhou, the new % store features a tall façade lined with hundreds of rotatable Chemex plates, in both solid and outlined forms, creating a dynamic pattern and play of light that establishes both a recognizable identity and an inviting presence within the streetscape.
The store’s layout inspired a tunnel-like design, formed by two bold gate structures extending from the original façade, unified in material and tone. As customers enter, they are greeted by signature brand elements along the pathway, leading into the main interior space, softly illuminated by Chemex Lamps. At the center end of the tunnel sits the kitchen counter, framed by two custom-designed bench rows. Outside, generous greenery and relaxed seating offer a calm space to enjoy your favorite cup of % coffee.”
